I’m not commonly somebody that makes sweeping, quasi-chauvinistic generalisations; largely because I am so painfully flawed that for me to make any kind of snap judgment on someone else person is tantamount to the governments tough new stance on crime being announced by The Joker; utterly hypercritical. However for the purpose of this weeks musing I must record something that many women are said to subscribe to; namely manufacture sure before they go out, that they are wearing matching underwear to assuage any embarrassment in the event of being complicated in an accident. Presumably like so many lazy, stereotypical viewpoints there is scarcely any truth to this concept and women are out there liberally wearing teeny-weeny yellow polka-dot bikinis along with crimson red C & A brassieres without the least bit of shame. Nevertheless I could never understand the concept process behind these sentiments; de facto any person arriving at the scene of an urgency would act expertly and without prejudice; not morph into Trinny or Susannah, take one look at the victims mangled body and begin hurling appalling abuse at them for wearing Bewise pants.

Recently though I have started to suffer a similar urgency of confidence; last year I misguidedly took up jogging and despite looking not too different to one of those running zombies in 28 Days Later, have kept it up. Each day I go out battling with my own ineptitude and nagging sense of futility with only my iPod for company; and therein lies my dilemma. Just picture for a moment, without enjoying it too much, me suffering a mild dizzy spell in the midst of a run and requiring some medical assistance. Luckily a gentleman is nearby, he’s a proper bloke, a salt-of-the-earth type, slightly bigoted but more than happy to help an sure sad act like me. He comes over, makes me comfortable and checks I haven’t died. He then notices my iPod lying on the ground next to me. Imagine my humiliation when he glances upon it and realises that on my very manly work-out session I was listening to ‘Something About The Way You Look Tonight’ by Elton John. Now I know those same fears that women have with their underwear.

Dizziness

This has now come to be a veritable minefield of discomfiture; for every hip song I have on my iPod, there is a guilty pleasure; for every ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ there is a ‘Go West’, the whole thing has come to be a frightful musical equivalent of Russian Roulette. It’s not that they are all necessarily bad songs, just not what I would want to be discovered listening to at the scene of an accident. Because trust me friends, if I was found to be listening to Razorlight’s erstwhile rendition of ‘America’ at the moment of my death, my funeral would be all the more tragic. I think this to be such a potentially damaging issue whilst I’m out jogging that I have been practicing a ninja-like manoeuvre in which, as I feel that sudden excruciating pain rushing to my heart and my legs start to buckle underneath and the darkness starts to decree over my mind, I use my last ounce of drive to simultaneously wrench my iPod from my pocket and heave it into a colse to bush thus salvage me the embarrassment of being found by a tattooed Judas Priest-loving paramedic, listening to Abba’s ‘The Visitors’.

We all seemingly amble colse to with earphones constantly protruding from our lugholes and I know I’m not the only one who feels awkward with some of their more questionable choices of song; so who amongst you is willing to confess; which of you guiltily walks past strangers in the road and in that briefest of moments as your eyes meet, you hopelessly wonder if they know you are marching along to the sound of ‘Rock Me Amadeus’. I know you do. Yes You!

Sandwiched in the middle of the south African countries of Zambia and Zimbabwe is the omnipotent Victoria Falls, ranking among the most spectacular natural wonders in the world. Cleaving straight through the tropical scenery with a fortitude known only by mum Nature, this 1.7- kilometer wide, 108-meter tall waterfall is considered the largest in the world, thanks to its roaring height and width.

Known by locals as the “Mosi-oa-Tunya,” or Smoke that Thunders, this immense curtain of water unleashes the entire Zambezi River from its fertile palm. The great cascade, so vast it incites a duality of dread and awe, then plunges downward, its sheet of water dropping into the unhinged jaw of the basaltic chasm below.

Giddiness

So always in vogue and great is Victoria’s torrent of water, that even David Livingstone, the Scottish explorer who ventured into Africa in the 19th century, gushed in his 1865 article of an Expedition to the Zambesi and Its Tributaries, “On reaching that lip, and peering over the giddy height, the wondrous and unique character of the magnificent cascade at once burst upon us.” He continues, “It is rather a hopeless task to endeavor to transport an idea of it in words, since…even by a amount of views, could but divulge a faint impression of the glorious scene.” Well over a century later, Victoria Falls continues to have an indelible impact on the memories of its spectators.

Aside from its great height and width, Victoria Falls’ prominence is attributed to its geological makeup, which rivals some of the world’s many waterfalls, including Niagara Falls. Whereas Niagara was formed the gradual retreat of rock over which the Niagara River falls, Victoria Falls has been, agreeing to Livingstone, “formed by a crack right across the river, in the hard, black basaltic rock which there formed the bed of the Zambesi.” This great rift explains why spectators can view the entire length of Victoria head-on, in a frontal panorama that is ineffably breathtaking. In fact, visitors can stand a mere 200 feet from the waterfall, production for an equally intimate excursion.

Each year, visitors flock to Victoria Falls’ to humble themselves before this great cascade. Rendered a Unesco World heritage Site in 1989, Victoria Falls was inscribed for “both geological and ecological values,” agreeing to unesco.org.

This health is characterized by asthenic symptoms, because of salt depletion caused by prolonged sweating without enough intake. The symptoms are fatigue, nausea, vomiting, giddiness, insomnia and cramps but these patients do not complain of thirst.

Unacclimatized subjects engaged in hard work in a hot environment are affected. There is valuable incompatibility in susceptibility. Salt depletion has been proved to play a major role in the pathogenesis. There is a fall in osmolarity of extracellular fluid volume. Plasma sodium and chloride levels fall.

Giddiness

Clinical features: A wide spectrum of symptoms may occur. In many patients there is a prodromal phase with vague symptoms like anorexia, nausea, giddiness and headache. Even at this stage, the outpatient sweats profusely and the urine production is reduced. Determination at this stage may not be very clear in the absence of cramps. The severe illness is characterized by asthenia and painful cramps. As the health progresses, tachycardia, hypotension, dehydration, oliguria and even shock ensue. Postural syncope is common. Coma and pulmonary edema precede death.

Laboratory findings: Plasma sodium and chloride levels are proportionately reduced. Volume and salt article of Urine are low. Severe dehydration leads to pre-renal azotemia.

Diagnosis: The salt depletion heat exhaustion has to be differentiated from the water depletion type by the absence of thirst, the nearnessy of muscle cramps and oliguria with low levels of sodium and chloride in urine.

Treatment: In mild cases, Oral replacement with 4-5 liters of general saline in 24 hours may be adequate. A quantity of 10-20g of salt can be added to food and drinks as supplement. Severe cases require intravenous fluids. Two liters of isotonic saline are given in the first hour rapidly with monitoring of urine volume and urinary chloride. Saving is rapid. Consumption of extra salt in food acid drinks helps in preventing recurrence.

Heat cramps

This is a mild variant of salt scantness heat exhaustion. Severe cramps owing to hyponatremia, occur in the voluntary muscles in persons who work in hot environment. There is inordinate sweating, without supplementation of salt. The cramps are precipitated by heavy work, are very painful and generally involve the extremities. They last for a minute or so, and recur at intervals. Oral supplementation of 10-15g of salt relieves the cramps in mild cases. In more severe cases, management of 600 ml of general saline gives dramatic relief.

Skin lesions caused by exposure to sun and Hot environment

Direct exposure to sun leads to sun-burn and solar keratosis. Prickly heat develops in persons exposed to hot environment even without direct exposure to the sun.

Sun burn: Is it caused by direct exposure to ultraviolet light. Fairskinned persons especially newcomers are more generally affected. Symptoms start with erythema and pruritus and pace to acute painful edema, vesiculation and bullae formation. prolonged and repeated exposure results in increased pigmentation and improved tolerance. Local application of calamine lotion containing 0.5% crystal violet or any antihistaminic cream gives relief. Para-amino benzoic acid which absorbs ultraviolet light gives some security and this can be applied as a cream (5%) or lotion, arresting and the use of protective clothing and umbrella.

Solar keratosis: Repeated exposure to direct sunlight causes patchy hyperkeratosis. The neck, back, dorsum of the hands and forehead are affected maximally. Albinos suffer more. These lesions may predispose to carcinoma.

Miliaria rubra (prickly heat): These are beloved lesions seen in persons exposed to hot environment, especially if humidity is high. This health results from blockage of sweat glands by the prickle cell layer of the epidermis, flee of sweat into the epidermis and added inflammatory changes. Areas covered by clothing are more severely affected. Papular lesions establish which may come to be vesicular or pustular with surrounding erythema. Secondary infection may establish later.

Treatment: Local application of calamine lotion gives soothing relief. inordinate washing of the skin with strong soap should be avoided. Use of brand soaps and quarterly sue of gingeli oil (sesame oil) over the skin applied for one hour weekly removes this lesion in native population. In established cases, stay in a cold environment and use of loose clothing bring about relief in 2-3 weeks.

Alfred Hitchcock is best known as the director of films like The Birds, Vertigo, Rear Window and of course, Psycho. The scene in which Norman Bates tears off the shower curtain rods and ends Janet Leigh’s run from the police, leaving her in the similar state to the fabric shower curtain, is one of the most renowned in cinema history. This report will talk a petite about the work of this director, and why his films are favorite still today.

Hitchcock started his work development silent films in England. These were, for the most part, not very fantastic pictures and are only seen today due to his fame. It wasn’t until the issue of his movie “The Lady Vanishes” that he began to get concentration for his potential to tell stories in an sufficient manner. His British duration also included “The 39 Steps” and “The Man Who Knew Too Much”, a film that was later remade starring James Steward and Doris Day.

Vertigo

From the success of these pictures, Hitchcock was employed by mega-producer David O. Selznick, the Harvey Weinstien of his era, to come to America and make films for Hollywood. His first film in the States, Rebecca, did petite at the box office, but soon he was development films like Strangers on a Train, Rear Window and To Catch a Thief.

Hitchcock had something most directors aren’t lucky sufficient to achieve. Due to the distinctive nature of his films and the Tv show he usually hosted, he became a household name, and his face is abruptly recognizable among those over a determined age. This kind of fame came with a price, however, as he was seen by many critics to be a “populist” director rather than development art films. For example, he never won an Academy Award for directing. This belief of his work could not be supplementary from the esteem it’s currently held in by critics nearby the world. However, critics such as Ray Carney and David Thomson point out that his films have a determined level of hollowness to them. While they’re unquestionably very spirited and emotionally manipulating pictures, this manipulation also has a narcissistic quality, and maybe points to the public awkwardness Hitchcock felt.

Hitchcock’s later films are regarded as not being as sufficient as his earlier hits. As he grew older, his behavior became stranger, and it’s widely assumed that at one stage he propositioned Tippi Hendren, the star of The Birds and Marnie who Hitchcock found on a television commercial. While Hendren has the look of a leading lady, there can be petite doubt she was not at the high level of most pro actors.

But this was never Hitchcock’s concern. He has famously been quoted as saying that actors should be treated as cattle, and plans his films out before shooting even begins on his films. This level of correct operate is the think his films are so spirited and virtuosic, but maybe also show the think why some find the films to be emotionally hollow.

Are you feeling woozy today? Do you feel that you are losing operate because you feel that the world around you is keen in up and down and in circles? Are you about to throw up at any occasion because of the intense giddiness? Or you feel that your head is about the break open because of the excruciating ill that you are presently having? All of these questions are all familiar, and for sure, nobody is a stranger to these unpleasant feelings. However, quite coarse as they are, you can operate and fight back, and not allow dizziness and headaches tobe the masters of your life. Instead, take it easy, relax for a while, as we will examine the distinct treatments for these annoying and debilitating conditions.

What Are Dizziness And Headaches?

Giddiness

In putting up a fight with the best and flourishing outcome, it is of utmost importance to know the enemy well first. Whether you are getting woozy and having the pain in your head again, defining them is all the time subjective. That simply means, they are, as they are, as described. When one will say that “I feel dizzy” or “I am having a ill right now”, that is what the inpatient is feeling at that moment, and should not be given a doubt, unless, if they malinger and intentionally act things out.

First things first, let’s tackle dizziness. Dizziness, as mentioned, is a subjective assessment. However, it can be categorized into three distinct definite types. These are vertigo, disequilibrium, and presyncope.

Vertigo is when you feel that your surrounding is keen or spinning around you. This is commonly felt after spinning yourself after enjoying a merry-go-round spin ride. This often accompanied by vomiting. Other symptoms that patients report include sound and light irritability and blurred optic changes. Clinical manifestations observed by an examiner include immoderate perspiration, gait and equilibrium difficulties and nystagmus, which a rapid, uncontrollable, involuntary, jerky eye movements.

Disequilibrium, on the other hand, is the loss of equilibrium and stability. Equilibrioception or the sense of equilibrium is severely altered that someone often experiences falls and slips. However, it should be noted that despite of the severity of the symptom involved, vomiting is not a part of this condition.

Presyncope is the sensation of fainting. Frequently called as light-headedness, actual fainting does not occur. The someone still retains some level of consciousness. Presyncope serves as a tip-off sign that the someone is about to faint. Lack of cerebral oxygen perfusion is the cause of light-headedness because of poor blood circulation towards the brain due to partial obstruction, circulatory problems or vagus nerve stimulation. If not corrected immediately, fainting can occur.

Now that we had learned the assorted categories of dizziness, let us now learn more about headaches. Headaches are simply defined as pain felt on the upper cephalic or peri-coronal area of the head. Just like dizziness, it is all the time a subjective symptom, as it can only be felt by the someone having it.

Headaches can be described in a more detailed format. Examiners want to get more total data on the intensity, duration, ability and frequency.

The intensity can be described as mild, moderate, severe and very severe. By using the Wong-Baker’s Pain scale, pain can be quantified from 0 to 10. 0 equates to no pain, while 10 is interpreted as very severe pain.

To compare for duration, patients are asked how long the pain had lasted fluctuating from a few seconds, minutes, hours and even days.

Quality of pain, on the other hand, can be described as throbbing, piercing, vise-like, squeezing, compressing and the like.

Frequency gives examiners an idea on how often the pain occurs. The examiner asks the inpatient on how Frequently the pain shows up. Is it intermittent, recurrent, or benign?

What Causes Dizziness And Headaches?

Both dizziness and headaches can Whether be idiopathic in nature or are direct results from an existing condition. They are not diseases by themselves but they do tell the someone having it, as well as attending healthcare providers that something is not right.

Patients having the following disease processes have Whether vertigo or disequilibrium or both, as one of their main clinical manifestations. These are Otitis media, Otitis interna, which is often called as Vestibular neuritis or Labyrinthitis, Meniere’s disease, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo or Bppv, and Acoustic neuroma or Vestibular Schwannoma. Perhaps, the most coarse cause of vertigo and disequilibrium that a lot of citizen are well-known with is Kinetosis, which is the medical term for appeal sickness or trip Sickness. Kinetosis also includes Space sickness or Space Adaptation Syndrome (Sas), which is directly related while space travel.

Problems with blood circulation and pathologic conditions of the heart both lessen the number of oxygen being delivered towards the brain. A great number of oxygen is needed by the brain for its normal functioning, and any drastic changes can trigger light-headedness, as the brain is very sensitive to abrupt oxygen level alterations. That is why it is startling for patients to feel woozy and unsteady at times when they have any of the following conditions: hypertension, hypotension, together with orthostatic hypotension, coronary artery diseases such as arteriosclerosis and atherosclerosis, transient ischemic attacks or Tia, mild carbon monoxide poisoning, anemia and anatomical and physiological anomalies within the heart. Marvelous stress such as the sight of blood or ultimate emotional duress can bring down blood pressure levels as the vagus nerve is unintentionally activated while these very stressful events.

For those undergoing long-term medical therapy, definite drugs can induce dizziness because of their modes of performance and unexpected side effects. For patients taking designate drugs, as well as for those who are attending the needs of patients undergoing prolonged drug therapy, expect some levels of dizziness from the following medications. To name a few, here are some examples. These are anti-hypertensive drugs, anti depressants, diuretics, chemotherapy drugs, sedative-hypnotics, aminoglycosides, salicylates, anticonvulsants and nitroglycerin.

Prohibited drugs such as cocaine or often called as “crack” or “coke” as its road names, as well as recreational beverages especially alcohol can make its consumers perceive some degree of giddiness.

Other causes of dizziness and light-headedness include hypoglycemia, dehydration, mild head trauma such as a concussion and immoderate exposure to hot air temperatures.

Pathologic nervous principles disorders such as manifold Sclerosis and Ramsay Hunt syndrome Ii or Herpes zoster oticus had been known reported in causing dizziness.

Changes in hormonal levels such as Addison’s disease (inadequate steroid hormone production), Hyperthyroidism (high thyroid hormone levels), Hypothyroidism (low thyroid hormone level), Diabetes Mellitus (high blood glucose secondary to poor insulin production), pregnancy, and menopause can modify spatial orientation and perception.

Pain, just like dizziness, may indicate the nearnessy of physiologic or even a psychiatric problem. In fact according to the International Classification of ill Disorders (Ichd-2) by the International ill Society, headaches are commonly categorized into primary and Secondary Headaches.

Primary headaches are cryptogenic. The cause is not well-established and remains a gray-area for researchers and experts. according to the Ichd-2, tension-type headaches, mass headaches and migraines, as well as, Trigeminal Neuralgia or Fothergill’s disease are categorized as primary headaches due to their sudden onset and ambiguous nature.

Secondary headaches, unlike the primary headachess, are direct consequences arising from a known and well-established cause. Severe headaches may ensue from high blood pressure or hypertension, stroke, transient ischemic charge (Tia), bleeding and blood clot formation within the cranium, blood vessel aneurysms, glaucoma, post-operation ill resulting from dialysis and craniotomy, abnormal growths or tumors within the brain or cranial vault, abnormal cerebrospinal fluid (Csf) pressure levels and from endocrine abnormalities such as hypothyroidism.

Secondary headaches can also ensue from unhealthy habits. Protracted fasting, long-term analgesic therapy and alcohol consumption should be avoided as these practices can trigger excruciating headaches as well.

Headaches may be psychiatric in nature, rather than physiologic. Somatization, psychosomatic disorders, as well as tactile hallucinations can create pain that feels real for citizen having psychiatric disturbances.

What Are The Treatments For Dizziness And Headaches?

Now that we had discovered that dizziness and headaches culminate from an existing condition, administration is therefore focused on the cause of the problem. However, if the triggering factor is idiopathic such as in the case of Bppv and primary headaches, palliative and preventive measures are taken to relax and lessen the gravity of the symptoms involved.

For infection of the middle and inner ear, antibiotics are the main methods of management. To neutralize vertigo and disequilibrium, medications are prescribed and given. These are Promethazine hydrochloride (Phenergan) and Meclizine hydrochloride (Antivert). Diphenhyramine (Benadryl), an antihistamine and Diazepam (Valium), a benzodiazepine, are also helpful as they help patients to relax well while vertigo attacks.

If warning signs of presyncope or light-headedness occur, encourage the someone to lie down in a supine position with both legs elevated. This position is called the Reverse Trendelenburg or the Reverse T-position. This brings more blood from the legs towards the upper extremities and the head. If presyncope is caused by too much exposure to heat, loosen tight clothing but protect the patient’s privacy, apply cooling techniques and avoid giving fluids as this can cause aspiration.

As both dizziness and headaches can Whether be mysterious in nature or are direct results of serious medical and psychiatric conditions, self-treatment is very discouraged, as this can make disease outcome worse and prognosis become bleaker. all the time bear in mind that nothing can replace and substitute allowable medical advice and intervention. Remember to talk with your healthcare supplier immediately and promptly.

You will know if you are near Rotorua by the smell! The pungent smell of sulphur, or more affectionately termed – rotten eggs. I have never attempted to smell rotten eggs to prove this saying.

Okay, unless you no ifs ands or buts no ifs ands or buts hate unusual smells (or sensitive nose), most people will get used to the ‘fragrance’ after an hour or so. Personally, I have never seen anything wearing a mask there due of the smell.

Giddiness

Today, I will share with you 5 of Rotorua Attractions – Gondola, Luge, Quad-bike, Shweeb and Zorb!

Gondola

The main purpose – it takes you up Mount Ngongotaha. Best time to go up, ideally before 2pm. This gives you enough time to enjoy the day view, go for all the activities, watch the sunset, and even see the night view.

Luge

After trying the luge rides in 3 locations (Rotorua, Queenstown and Sentosa), the best rides were without fail at Rotorua. It is also known to be the world’s first commercial luge tracks.

The scenic ride is nice and long, which provides enough time for viewing. The intermediate route was not bad. The advanced route caught me by surprise the first time. Try it and you know what I mean.

Quad-bike

I can’t get enough of quad-bike rides! perhaps because the first time I ever seen this car was in New Zealand. They use it at the nurseries and golf courses. We even play it as part of team construction activities during camps.

Okay, I am not the adventurous kind when it comes to ‘rides’. But like some of my friends, once you try bungee jumping, you want to keep going for them. It is the same case for me for the quad-bike rides. And it might be the same for you too!

Shweeb

Unfortunately, I didn’t get to try this! In fact, I don’t think any of my friends tried it too. Only heard about it after I left New Zealand. It seems like pedalling while lying down! Sounds super cool though!

Zorb

According to friends who tried, it is like rolling down a hill in a big hamster ball. Might feel a dinky giddy after the ride. Didn’t try it because most of the time I drove to Rotorua, had to make sure I can drive back after that!

There is the dry zorb and the hydro zorb. For the hydro zorb, the water might be quite cold as it can be chilly during spring and autumn. Obviously, they have changing rooms, but might catch a chill while queuing.

Thankfully, this zorb is also available in Singapore as zovb. Will without fail try it one of these days.

Symptoms consist of hot flashes, insomnia, parethesias, palpitations, cold hands and feet, headache, vertigo, anxiety, irritability, nervousness, depression, fatigue, forgetfulness, inability to concentrate, and weight gain. Hot flush regularly lasts from a few seconds to 4 to 5 minutes. Peripheral blood vessels dilate; skin, especially on head and neck, becomes red and warm. Chills may follow. Hot flashes occur in more than 75% of all women at menopause, and may occur in more than 25% for 5 years or more. Vasomotor symptoms of hot flush occur with onset of luteinizing hormone pulses, although not dependent. Since Lh rise is associated, but not every rise, it is suggested that former hypothalamic centers control both flushes and Lh release. The connection between hot flashes and endorphin output have been made, as endorphin increase decreases hot flashes.

Vertigo

Other hormone changes that occur in the perimenopausal duration and beginning postmenopausal consist of some regular cycles, or shorter cycles with a short follicular phase and increases in Fsh, and decreases in estradiol and progesterone, with estrogen rising sporadically and progesterone diminishing. Cycle length can come to be variable, with even a few viable oocytes formed. Lh and Fsh levels greatly increase in postmenopause with Fsh to Lh typically being greater than 1 mIu/mL due to negative estradio feedback. Estrogen levels are significantly reduced, with androgen slightly reduced. The androgens turn to estrogens in the periphery, generally in fat cells and skin, which makes up most of the estrogen circulating, unless supplemented. Fsh levels will increase as estrogen decreases.

Helpful food strategies

Menopause may not be a necessary factor if we all ate more seeds and beans. Dr. Bernard Jensen once referred us to as the “seedless generation” because we have industrialized so many ways of avoiding seeds in our diet. Seeds consist of prominent hormone-modulating nutrients. The seeds from grains (flax, sunflower, sesame, etc.) and fruits (berries, oranges, watermelon, etc.) consist of special compounds that will, depending upon the situation, whether stimulate hormone output or sacrifice hormone production. Wheat, barley and other grains also consist of these compounds, which consist of phytoestrogens and other phytosterols and sitosterols.

Soy is touted as a natural phytoestrogen, any way a whole of other beans have potent levels of phytoestrogens, including kidney beans, adzuki, black, fava, great northern, lima, mung, lentils, and black-eyed peas are close, with many surpassing soy’s levels of genistein and other isoflavones. Soy products like miso and tempeh also deliver great digestable soy, as they are cultured. Issue connected to phytoestrogens are whether they interfere with estrogen output because they can bind to estrogen receptors. Typically phytoestrogens will increase estrogen output when its low, and bind to sites, modulating available receptors and decreasing estrogen levels when high. Because foods consist of balancing effects to these phytoestrogens, whole foods contribute great strategies than supplements.

Other helpful foods that consist of estrogen-like sterols or ferulic acid, which enhances endorphin release. Ferulic acid foods consist of whole grains, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, fresh veggies and fruits, garlic, dates, flax seeds, pomegranates, yams, coconut, oats. Fenugreek and yams consist of diosgenin, used by the body to help manufacture progesterone. Foods that stress the body and thus sacrifice progesterone consist of refined sugar, caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, and red meats.

Chemical hormone-disrupters

There are a whole of chemicals that have been shown to disrupt natural hormone manufacture in the body:

The most studied are polychlorinated biphenyls (Pcbs) and dioxins. A whole of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides still consist of these elements
Chlorine and fluorine can also interfere with hormone production, attaching to receptors typically designed for other minerals.
Polycarbonate plastics have been studied for their hormone-disruption and should be avoided. Plasticizers from cling-wrap can also leach into food that it touches, especially under any kind of heat
Sick structure and molds can also act as hormone-disruptors

Vitamins and minerals connected with easing menopause include:

Vitamin E (200-800 Iu)-can help cool hot flashes and calm anxiety
Vitamin C (up to 5,000 mg/day) with hesperidin flavonoids-also help cool hot flashes, leg cramps, etc.
Calcium/magnesium supplements (citrate, gluconates, carbonates, etc.)-ease reasoning stress and decrease bone loss
B-vitamins and especially B6 can help hot flashes
Selenium-helps maintain hormone function
Lecithin helps emulsify E
Potassium or potassium-foods or multi-mineral foods to replace minerals lost in sweat
Magnesium relaxes blood vessels and muscles
Calcium feeds bones, often depleted in hormone imbalances
Boron and vitamin D helps calcium bone absorption and equilibrium hormones

Good sources of these consist of whole mineral salts and food-based multivitamins.

Useful herbs and oils

Evening Primrose Oil-contributes to estrogen production, is sedative and diuretic. Can use with omega 3 supplement oil like flax. 800-1200mg to 20%Gla for primrose oil
Black cohosh root can mimic estrogen, is antispasmodic and diuretic, eases hot flashes. 500-1500 mg/day at 2% triterpene glycosides
Dang Gui is a phytoestrogen and also helps calm spasms and Gyn issues
Vitex berries act directly on pituitary gland, modulating hormone secretion. 600mg standardized to ½% agnuside daily
Licorice contains phyroestrogens and steroidal estrogenic saponins that equilibrium female hormones, best to limit usage to first half of menstral cycle
Other estrogen-enhancing herbs consist of anise, fennel, sage, sarsaparilla, squavine, unicorn root and wild yam root
Saw palmetto is a hormone modulator
St. Johns Wort raises serotonin levels, controlling mood swings
Red raspberry leaf strengthens uterus and relaxes level muscles
Kava can help relax muscles
Gingko and cayenne can increase circulation, warming hands and feet
Ustilago maydis mushroom used by the Tewa to regulate menstral difficulties
Ayurveda includes ashwaganda as a hormone-modulating herb
Specific hot flash remedy: simmer 2 parts celery with one part motherwort.

Aromatherapy

Oils of chamomile, cypress, fennel. During perimenopausal times, clary sage, cypress, jasmine, juniper, marjoram, and Melissa have been shown to cool the body and sacrifice flushing spells.
